Your bedroom should be the place where you go when you want to get away from the world. It is where you should be able to rest and where you should be able to go to relax from the grind of the every day. That being said, your bedroom should reflect your personal tastes and your bed should be a reflection of your personal style. You should make your bedroom and bed as personal as you can so that you are always comfortable being in there. This not only includes having an awesome mattress but also bedding that makes you feel comfortable, calm and relaxed.
When you are picking out your new bedding you should find something that not only affects you visually but also affects your tactile senses. If you want your room to be calming and relaxing then you should choose colors that will reflect that ambition. Colors on the left side of the color wheel, those that are cool and soft will be better than bright, loud colors which exhibit more fire and passion. That sort of hectic atmosphere will more reflect what happens outside of the bedroom than what you are wanting to accomplish. You want to create harmony and your bedding should exemplify this.
You are going to need to take into consideration what type of bedding you want. Some bedding is more stiff, while other bedding can become too lush which will make your bedroom look more stuffy than relaxing. Pay particular attention to thread count, the type of weave, the type of fabric and the accessories that come with it. Thread count is very important in sheets and bedding especially if you want the look of opulence without sacrificing price and feel. Sateen sheets with a 400 thread count are just as nice as regular sheets with 1000 thread count, but they will cost a lot less. And after several washings, when your sheets feel like the softest of cotton, who cares what the thread count is? Cotton bedroom sets come in a wide variety of textures, colors and thread counts so you will always have a wide selection to choose from.
Always remember that you get what you pay for. If you are just trying to change the look of your room because you are tired of it's current look, then buying something that is cheap will give you those types of results. You won't be as happy as you would have been if you had taken your time and picked a more durable and statement-worthy bedroom set. Sure, it might cost your a little bit more, but you will be happier with your purchase and less likely to change the look because you won't get tired with how it looks in your bedroom. And cheaper bedding won't stand the test of time like more expensive bedding will. It's made cheaply, so the stitches won't be as sturdy and you can expect it to fall apart more quickly than a quality made bedroom set.
You should always follow the manufacturers suggestions when it comes to laundering your bedding. If the tag says it needs to be laundered by a dry cleaner, then spend the extra money to do so. Your bedding should last a long time and you want to keep it looking clean and crisp. It doesn't make sense to throw all that money away in your own washer and dryer just for convenience sake. Also, follow what types of laundry detergent you should use. Sometimes certain laundry detergents will be too harsh for your bedding and that can cause many problems as well.
Your bedding should reflect how you want to feel and should in turn, make you feel good. Your bedroom is your sanctuary; choose your bedding wisely and you always have a great night's rest!
